The 5 best Christmas songs of all time

By Tamara Paulsen

5. The Christmas Song – Bing Crosby

Talk about a song that gets you in the mood for christmas, it’s even in the name! The imagery of christmas and Bing’s velvety voice will take you away!

4. Baby it’s cold outside – She and Him/Turk and JD

Although the lyrics are questionable, the people who cover these songs are simply amazing and I can’t help but listen to these versions on repeat throughout the season.

3. Greensleves – Vince Guaraldi Trio

Everyone has their christmas tradition film, in my house it’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, this song smells like the fireplace, it feels like fluffy blankets and is just the nostalgia filled song I know and love.

2. A merry little christmas – Frank Sinatra

This song will get stuck in your head for days and days on end after just one listen, it’s great though cause then you always have something to say to relatives, friends and acquaintances when you pass them on the street and don’t actually want to have a conversation.

1. Fairytale of New York – The Pogues

This, according to a (very professional) poll I put out, is the ultimate christmas song. The singers already sound drunk so you can sing along without feeling self conscious, it has both a somber bit and an upbeat singalong bit. The swearing is always fun (except maybe we should find something to replace the f word) and it brings the whole family together in christmas drunken cheer!

Enjoy the holidays ya filthy animals! And Happy New Year!
