League Cup Preview

With the Scottish League cup semi-finals only a matter of days away all eyes defend on Hampden Park, Glasgow. These are my predictions for each match.

Aberdeen v Dundee United

For me this is by far the better and more interesting of the games that are going to be played, Aberdeen are on good form however this has slipped recently with 2 consecutive draws, but they are still a top quality team that are playing well. Dundee United are going to be buoyant after their 3-1 win over Motherwell. However the more cynical of Uniteds fan base may see that result as a “we conceded against that Motherwell team”. The way I see this match turning out is that it will be tight, it will be edgy and both sets of fans will be right up for this as it is a derby match after all.

The way I see this game panning out is an Aberdeen win but only in extra time. 2-1 to Aberdeen.

Celtic v Rangers

Ok let’s address the elephant in the room. I may have said in my last article on this match that it could be a melting pot for trouble. I highly doubt that is going to be the case now. I heard die hard Rangers fan and comedian Andy Cameron say a few weeks ago that the Rangers fans don’t see Celtic as the enemy at the moment. So this hopefully means that everything will be fine off the pitch. On the pitch however will be something different, as I keep saying Rangers aren’t very good at the moment and even if Celtic play badly in this match I still expect them to win, it was the same as the Dundee United-Rangers game at Ibrox last season where United weren’t at their best and still won comfortably.

Score predictions I’d say 3-0 to Celtic.

These results are only predictions and anything can happen in cup football, as we saw with the FA cup over the weekend.
