The Champions League last 16 draw provided some great ties.
Manchester City, who reached the last 16 for only the second time, were drawn against Barcelona. The game will see the return of Luis Suarez to England, and the task of facing players such as Messi and Iniesta will be a tough one for City, especially with a reduced squad size due to breaking FFP regulations last season. However, Sergio Aguero should be back for this tie, and the Aguero vs Pique battle will be a very intriguing one.
Arsenal, who finished second in their group, behind the struggling Borussia Dortmund, will play Monaco. Having avoided Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, the Gunners have got lucky with their draw. Having said that, Monaco do possess talent in their side, with the likes of Joao Moutinho and Dimitar Berbatov providing a tough test.
Chelsea, who topped their group, will face PSG. The likes of Ibrahimovic and Cavani will be a tough test for Jose Mourinho’s men, and Chelsea have found themselves somewhat unlucky with this draw, having missed out on easier ties, such as Shahktar Donetsk. With Chelsea in such good form in the Premier League, however, they will be tagged as the favourites, especially if Eden Hazard and Diego Costa can stay fit and in good form, given PSG’s weakness at fullback, and their occasional defensive blips.
