Eden Festival is coming back this June for another three days of fun in the sun! Eden has been a great family friendly festival since 2009 in the Ae Forest in Dumfries and Galloway with music, theatre, kids entertainment and lots of different workshops. Eden houses an eclectic mixture of music from Gypsy to Ska to Electronica every year and some of the guests from previous years include: Levellers, The Balkan Bandits, Biggles Wartime Band, Gomez, Parov Stelar and many many others. Buying a ticket will get you the opportunity to explore 8 different stages across the luscious Raehills Meadows and guarantee you a great weekend with lots of music, culture, community, and eco-friendliness from the 15th to the 17th of June.
The highlight of Eden this year is indie Englishman Badly Drawn Boy who will charm you with his dreamy lyrics and folky guitar playing. He entered the music scene with his charting 2000 debut ‘Hour Of The Bewilderment’ and has released five albums since. He is not the biggest booming commercial success however his combination of soothing and gentle vocals backed up by the piano, guitar and the bass to stir it all up is infallible.
The Cuban Brothers are Co-Headlining Eden this year. These performers come from the outskirts of Havana surrounded by some sexy and soulful Cuban music, which serves as their inspiration today. The four-some have done many DJ sets for private parties, radio shows and been invited to a variety of festivals and will perform at Eden after Rockness as part of their summer UK tour. They definitely know how to put on a show and have fun by combining music, comedy and amazing dancing!
Some other great acts to be expected at Eden include Dub Pistols Soundsystem who bring the dub and big beats from London. They are a band that is capable of mashing up practically everything together from Hip-hop to Punk to Ska and making it their own mixture since 1996. Well-established Celtic fusion band, the Peatbog Faeries, who have been nominated for “Best Live Act” at the BBC2 Radio Folk Awards 2012, are also coming to Eden to help you get your jig on.
Slamboree will also be appearing at this year’s Eden Festival with their fantastic mixture of Balkan gypsy jazz, dub and electronic music that will surely get you up on your feet! English DJ, A Skillz, will also be entertaining the crowds at Eden this year with his funky break beats and hip-hop. The next act is an interesting find. Though he started out as a DJ and MC at the age of 16, he only became the singer-songwriter he is today in 2007 when he began performing with his guitar as The Undercover Hippy. Eden Festival are pleased to host this talent and hope to see you there.
With such a wide variety of acts performing this year, it’s delightfully priced at £79 per ticket for the entire weekend. You can buy your ticket on the Eden Festival 2012 website: edenfestival.co.uk.
